Granulomatous Mastitis Occurring during Pregnancy: A Case Report

Background and Objectives: Granulomatous mastitis is a benign disease with clinical presentation similar to that of breast cancer, most commonly observed in women childbearing age. Although it has been suggested autoimmune diseases are involved its pathogenesis, no specific treatments have established. The occurrence this during pregnancy rarely reported. We presented the case 37-year-old woman who complained left induration at 24 weeks’ gestation. Materials Methods: She was pregnant manifested dichorionic, diamniotic placenta. At weeks gestation, patient experienced sensation hardness her breast. Mastitis suspected, she treated cephem antibiotics. Simultaneously, diagnosed erythema nodosum extremities. As symptoms did not improve, an incisional drainage performed. Bacterial cultures were obtained 31 Corynebacterium kroppenstedtii detected. Results: An elective cesarean section performed 37 baby delivered safely. After delivery, needle biopsy performed, granulomatous mastitis. completely cured prednisolone after weaning. In case, patient’s condition maintained through incision drainage, as well antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic drugs pregnancy. This approach chosen, taking into consideration potential side effects steroids. Conclusions: suggests antibiotic therapy, steroids surgery, may be considered treatment occurring also true for management delivery. breastfeeding steroidal therapy proved effective treating condition.
